Perhaps the most strategically pragmatic book in the movement. Belgian activist Tobias Leenaert argues that reducing animal suffering matters more than maintaining ideological consistency. He makes the case for "reducetarianism," for celebrating imperfect allies, for meeting people where they are rather than where you think they should be. It's a book about winning, not about being right. I know I could learn a thing or two there.

Why it matters

Most animal advocacy books are about why people should change. This one is about how people can. Leenaert draws on decades of movement experience to challenge sacred cows (so to speak): Is "vegan" the best framing? Should we praise or criticise partial steps? How do we handle an empathy burnout? This book is essential reading.

ALC Alignment

In many ways, this book is the operating philosophy of the ALC. In a movement often fractured by infighting over who's "vegan enough," this book is a much needed wake-up call.
